How it wins

Develop creatures, add mana when you can afford the turn, then cast threats that change the battlefield immediately. Extra mana needs an actual destination.

Early
Play an early creature. Buy a Heartwood only when the board permits it; a prepared spell still uses mana and a main-phase window.
Middle
Count the exact mana for your next play. A Heartwood makes red or green, whereas Crafter’s own colorless mana cannot cast spells from your hand.
Finish
Cast the threat that changes combat or supplies value immediately. Preserve an answer or second threat so one removal spell does not end the plan.

What it needs

Investigate Konstrari when early prepared bodies, usable acceleration and a meaningful top end arrive together. A seven-mana reward asks you to draft the turns that reach it.

Four checks while you draft

  1. 1
A body before the mana investment

Does this pick help me put a body on the board before investing in extra mana?

Prepared bodies let you defend before buying a Heartwood. They do not cast the prepared spell for free.

  2. 2
Extra mana that fits the spells

Does the mana source produce the right colors, and is its mana allowed to cast the intended spell?

Heartwoods make only red or green; other mana creatures have different restrictions. Match each source to the spell you want earlier.

  3. 3
Large plays that repay the setup

Do I already have a worthwhile expensive spell for this extra mana?

Choose threats that produce a second body, removal, or another immediate effect rather than relying only on size.

  4. 4
Survive and clear the next attack

Can I survive or remove a threat before the large creature arrives?

A large creature improves Compel Brutality, while red removal can work before your large body arrives.

Choose the missing job before another reward that needs it.

What to take next

You have Crusher but too many turns with nothing castable.

Take the earlier creature or mana source your curve lacks.

Improviser develops a body before its paid Heartwood spell; Propagator produces green after it can tap.

You have spare mana sources but no spell worth accelerating.

Look for top end that also changes the board.

Crusher has an entry choice; Wildspeaker can make a Beast through a loyalty activation if that planeswalker has not activated this turn.

Your ramp turn loses too much life.

Choose an answer that works before or with the next threat.

No Admittance needs no damage source of your own. Compel Brutality requires your creature or planeswalker to supply damage.

The support is missing

Use a regular creature curve and trim spare ramp if the large payoffs do not arrive. If only green is well supported, keep its bodies and fixing while comparing another second color.

Signals to watch
  • Konstrari Improviser and Greenhouse Propagator repeatedly being available offer ways to develop before the expensive turn. The hybrid Improviser does not prove both colors are open.
  • A supply of No Admittance or Compel Brutality alongside large threats is more useful evidence than several ramp cards with no payoff.

Repeated useful cards are clues, not proof that the colors are open.

Don’t
Calling Heartwoods five-color fixing

They do not produce white, blue, or black. Splash plans need actual sources of the splash color.

Buying mana while dying

A prepared spell can wait. Sometimes keeping mana for removal or casting another blocker is the only way to reach the expensive turn.

Two huge threats do not create the mana

Crusher asks for seven mana with double red and double green. Picking another expensive reward alongside it does not supply the opening turns or sources.

Examples apply the printed rules; judge the board, costs and timing.

Use the Crafter correctly

  1. Heartwood Crafter’s own tap ability cannot help cast a spell from hand.
  2. Once able to tap, it can pay generic mana toward a prepared Soul Tether copy, because that copy is not cast from hand.
  3. The resulting Heartwood has no such hand restriction and can tap immediately for red or green.

Let a large threat also answer a blocker

  1. After resolving Crusher, choose its two different entry modes for the board you face.
  2. On a later suitable window, Crusher can deal its power to an opposing creature or planeswalker through Compel Brutality.
  3. This is one-way damage, not a fight; nevertheless, removal of your source in response can break the plan.

Adapt the plan to your format

Pick-TwoOne-pickSealedReality Echoes
If the expensive payoff is already drafted, an early body plus usable acceleration may repair more than two additional finishers. Confirm both selections work with your red and green sources.Choose the missing step of the curve one card at a time. Avoid taking ramp over a necessary blocker simply because an expensive card is waiting in your pool.Draft can tune the ratio of acceleration and threats. Sealed often opens one half without the other; test the complete sequence instead of counting ramp cards in isolation.Choose one complete pair before the game only when its castable half helps this deck. If you exile the Loot pair, then an untapped Heartwood Crafter able to use its tap ability can pay one generic mana toward Loot, the Nexus’s {2}{G} exile cast: Crafter’s restriction excludes spells cast from hand. Normal costs and timing still apply; only one half can be cast from exile. You may leave the other half in exile instead of shuffling it. Ask your store whether both halves must be in your deck.
