Splinter Twin SPG 0167 · mythic

Take it when

An early Twin makes Divining Duelist a specific combo target in UR.

What to take next

Look for Divining Duelist, enough red for RR, and interaction to protect the setup.

Wrong pick

Do not call the Aura an automatic win alone. The original Duelist must be able to tap, and removal can break the loop.

Mana & splash

2RR requires substantial red; the partner requires blue. Avoid stretching a third-color deck for an incomplete combo.

Interactions from the card text, not a ranking.

Divining DuelistEnchant it, tap to copy it, then use the copy’s entry trigger to untap the original. Repeat before combat for hasty copies.

UnsummonCan return your targeted original Duelist to hand in response to removal, although the Aura is then lost.

What it needs

Divining Duelist, RR, and a creature able to tap; protection improves reliability.

How to use it

Enchant Duelist, tap for a hasty copy, and untap the original with the copy’s enter trigger. Repeat before combat for as many attackers as needed.

Playing against it

Remove the original in response to the Aura, tap activation, or untap trigger. An Aura exposes you to losing two cards to one answer.

Sealed vs Draft

In Sealed, you cannot draft the missing partner later. Exclude it if ordinary ETB-copy value does not justify the risk.

Two-Headed Giant

Can enchant your teammate’s Duelist. That teammate controls the granted ability and creates its copies; agree on timing and protection.
