Without Noisemaker or a late-game engine, build around castable creatures and removal. Do not draft missing pieces as though they are guaranteed.
Signals to watch
Repeated black or red early creatures plus useful removal support a normal pressure deck. A hybrid Plate Mail is playable through either color and does not prove that both are open.
If Noisemaker and usable noncreature spells continue to arrive, inspect the amass branch; if trades and recursion arrive instead, inspect the grind branch. Let the supporting picks decide.
Repeated useful cards are clues, not proof that the colors are open.
Don’t
No direct damage finish
Pinecone targets a creature, not the opponent. Do not count it as the final three life.
Equipment needs bodies
Several weapons on an empty battlefield cannot attack. Another creature may be the most important second pick.
Pick-Two: check both jobs
Two amass cards usually build one Army, not two creatures. If your pool lacks blockers beside that Army, spend one of the picks on a real body when the available cards justify it.
Cast Stony-Voiced Goblins. Its entry makes each opponent discard, leaving you a creature that may still block or attack.
When a particular opposing creature must die, you may cast Stir Up Trouble for one black mana and sacrifice the Goblins as its additional cost instead of paying four extra mana.
You give up the body as you cast the spell, even if Stir is countered. Compare that cost with keeping the blocker; the discard already happened and is not repeated.
Check whether the pair adds two jobs or only more size to one Army. An independent creature plus removal can improve the pressure deck more than two additional amass spells; Noisemaker changes that calculation only with support.
Keep useful creatures and interaction ahead of unsupported specialization. Choose pressure, amass or grind from the actual cards arriving instead of forcing all three into the same curve.
A strong black-red pool may win through ordinary creatures and removal without assembling a draft engine. Test independent bodies, sacrifice costs and later resources before relying on several amass cards to defend several attackers.
