Landfall rewards lands entering the battlefield, including lands found by spells. Your normal land each turn is the baseline; search lands and Wood Elves can add another entry. First make sure you can stay alive while arranging those turns.
Deploy Attercop or another useful creature. Do not spend every early turn on cards that improve a future board but leave the present one empty.
Middle
Cast a landfall reward before the land you intend to trigger it with, when your mana allows. Add Wood Elves or a search land for another entry.
Finish
Turn land entries into counters or tapped blockers. Raft-Steerer can clear an attack; Company can build a large vigilant threat.
What it needs
You see a reason to build the package and the cards that make it work: land-entry support for landfall, or useful Elf spells for Weavemaster. A lone appealing green card is not the complete plan.
Four checks while you draft
1
Early board and interaction
Can you contest attacks before assembling landfall?
Attercop can block flyers and threatens lethal deathtouch damage.
Keep broadly useful creatures and interaction if the specialized support dries up. Do not fill the deck with weak Elves or slow enchantments merely to preserve the label.
Signals to watch
Land-entry effects arriving with useful landfall rewards are evidence for that package. An isolated payoff with no early defense is a reason to inspect support, not force the pair.
Weavemaster plus useful Elf spells can support the ramp branch. Do not count weak Elves as guaranteed playables merely because a creature-type label matches.
Repeated useful cards are clues, not proof that the colors are open.
Don’t
Hand is not battlefield
Thrór’s Map finds a basic into your hand. Its search alone triggers no landfall.
Reveler needs a land
Its entry ability puts the discarded card onto the battlefield only if you discard a land. Do not count it as automatic ramp.
Pick-Two: check both jobs
Two landfall payoffs do not supply the lands. Extra-land permission is also not a land in hand; count entries, available lands and the early defense separately.
With Raft-Steerer already in play, play Hobbit Hole during your main phase. Its landfall trigger can tap an opposing creature you want out of the way.
Tap and sacrifice Hole to find a basic land tapped. That land entry triggers Raft-Steerer again, letting you tap a different opposing creature before attacking.
The basic enters tapped, so do not also budget it as fresh mana this turn. Tapping a creature after it has already been declared as a blocker would not remove it from combat.
When a landfall reward is secured, pair a useful land-entry card with the blocker or interaction the deck lacks. Two rewards do not put extra lands into play or protect the turn spent setting them up.
Pick the missing defense, land supply or useful Elf spell rather than every card bearing the theme. Extra-land permission has little value without another land to play.
Count the pool’s actual land-entry support and useful Elves before choosing a branch. If the package is shallow, prioritize a normal creature curve and answers instead of slow enchantments and unsupported extra-land effects.
